Do you remember not too long ago how information was being transmitted to all of us? At one point there was the Radio and then there was the Television. That was it … If you wanted to reach a lot of people you were pretty much limited to those two hubs for getting the information to your market.

All the big companies were investing their money to advertise and take control of their respective markets via those two mediums alone. But nowadays, those forms of advertisement are actually loosing grounds to Social Networks and Online Marketing. But WHY?

Cost saving is certainly a big reason why companies and individuals are turning to the internet to promote and advertise their products and services, since online marketing is a fraction of the cost of traditional advertisement. BUT by looking at how people are using the internet to find their information points to another reason. It points to TRUST … to what? Yes, TRUST!

If you think about it, it just makes since. You are more likely to go research a product or a services that you need if you heard it from a friend or someone you trust. That where all those Social Networks comes into play, without even realizing it, a lot of people are exchanging more than ever before and almost live. That means that you can ask a question to your Twitter friends and get answers almost on the spot, you can post something on Facebook or MySpace and get all kinds of feedback from friends that you trust and respect.

That’s pretty cool, compare this to the old method of advertisement and you quickly see that instead of the information being “push” to you without any control whatsoever, you are actually “pulling” what you really want your source of information to be … YOU control what you TRUST and where you get your information from.

Those who provide a TRUSTED source of information will become a major player in any market that they wish to compete in, because once people “trust” they generally stay loyal until their trust is broken. Be real and stay real …

What are RSS? RSS are commonly referred as “Really Simple Syndication” or “Rich Site Summary”. If you don’t like the word Syndication, well the second definition gives you a better idea of its functionality. Basically, RSS is just another way of getting the same information from a website in a different format, hence, the term SUMMARY.

Let’s try to make it clear, RSS are EXACTLY the same information that you would find on a particular website but instead of YOU going to the website each time you want to “check” if the website as been updated, the website will actually “notify” you (a web feed) when new content as been posted.

Pretty cool, so now let’s try to see what this means. It means that you don’t have to run around your favorite site or check them constantly to see if something as been updated since you could register to their RSS and get AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION when there is a certain update that you want to keep track of. Basically, you are creating your own “personal newspaper” from FEED (RSS subscription) that comes from different source but instead of going to all of these sources to get your information, they come to YOU.

So WHAT do you need to get started? Well, the first thing about your own “personal newspaper”, you need a place that will gather all those feeds (RSS). Google has one called “Google Reader”, so make a search about it or any RSS reader that you can find, there are plenty of them, and you will then have a “place” to gather all those feed that you want to keep track of.

HOW does it work? The RSS Reader is simply an application that will take all of your RSS feed and make them available for you to read without leaving the “reader”. So, once you have chosen your reader, go to your favorite websites and look for the RSS logo   and when you click on it you will then have to COPY the link to bring it back into the Reader as an ADDED subscription.

It may sounds a bit confusing but once you do it once, you will find that it is pretty simple. It’s just like emails, the Reader is a web application just like your web email account and if you use gmail, you simply use your same login for Google Reader – so you already have a RSS Reader without knowing it. Inside your email account you can see if you have new mail, well inside the Reader you will see if you have updated “news” that you didn’t read yet. When you want to ADD a new friend in your emails, you simply ADD their email addresses in your contacts. Well, with RSS you simple ADD “links” in your “subscriptions” instead of contacts. After you are subscribed to a particular RSS you will get automatically notified of any new information about that particular feed.

You will notice that I said “particular feed” because now that you know HOW to get your reader and go look for RSS feed that you are interested in, you will find that you can go to a sport network, for example, and ONLY subscribe for a RSS of your favorite team. So instead of subscribing for the entire website, try to look for exactly what you are interested in and only subscribe to that particular RSS.

Well this was just a quick introduction to RSS but I hope that you have a better idea HOW RSS works and WHAT they can do for you. It’s your personal newspaper that you can personalize like whatever you want. So go out there and get your reader then simply find some RSS to subscribe to.

An Entrepreneur is always more interested in the personal growth and development of his own abilities than the actual amount of money he really wants. Money is really just the RESULTS of hard work and taking action on a consistent basis, this is why money comes second.

You need to think about GROWTH first, a successful Entrepreneur will always focus his time on how to make things work and how to solve problems instead of focusing about how much money is in the bank. When you think about it, it just makes since because time is valuable and you need to use it at its maximum. We simply cannot add more hours in a 24h day, so you need to be focusing on growing yourself if you want your business to grow as well.

The good Entrepreneur will learn and continue to learn everything there is about building a business and how to keep this business on top. He will grow WITH the business and benefit from all this knowledge that was gained along the way. There is the growth of the business and there is the growth of the Entrepreneur, both are essential and crucial. One cannot be without the other if you want to MAXIMIZE the potential of you and your business.

If an Entrepreneur would only think about the money, it would be easy to get “down” when times are tough and when the money is not coming in. Some people would, and actually DOES give up and forget about everything they have been building all along. What they once BELIEVED in was replace by the lack of “money results” and their dreams simply disappears.

These are FALSE EXPECTATIONS, if you expect results as a measure of money ONLY, you will find yourself quitting when times are tough and starting all over again with another opportunity. This is EXACTLY HOW the biggest mistake can be made. You are wasting your time by starting all over again instead of continuing building what you had started in the first place. It’s like you are GAMBLING instead of INVESTING. You can make money in both ways, but investing is a much more LONG TERM strategy than gambling. Instead of starting ALL OVER AGAIN every time that something doesn’t go YOUR WAY, learn to resolve those issues by not quitting and by analyzing WHAT exactly cause this failure. You will GROW and LEARN from those mistakes so that next time a difficult situation occurs, you will be up and running faster instead of quitting and re-starting from scratch.

You can start to see that it all comes down to YOU again and the GROWTH that needs to come from you first and than transmitted to your business. No matter how you see it, the SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR will always be growing and being at the same level as its business, so if you want a MASSIVE business be prepare and willing to have some MASSIVE GROWTH.

I’ve talked before on what I mean by 2nd Generation Network Marketing here, but let’s just resume it quick. What I am referring to is the new techniques that are taking those old and proven concepts of Network Marketing apply to the INTERNET. So basically, we are still using those SAME proven concepts but applying technology on them so that it becomes incorporated with what we already use the internet on a day to day basis. Those who is ready to LEARN those concepts are what I call the 2nd Generation Network Marketer, just like in the title, so HOW TO START thinking like one?

The Internet as become a way of life now, I seldom meet someone that do not use the internet on a regular basis. So why not use this to our advantage? You have to position yourself so that your efforts and time are being maximize and leveraged by the Internet.

Social Networks are a blessing in the sky for Network Marketers and those who are building relationships and learning from mentors that are not living as your next door neighbor. Social Networks are a great place to meet people of similar interest and promote products or services to a vast variety of individuals. The more you get involve, the more you will benefit from in the long run.

Another really important concept of traditional Network Marketers that is EQUALLY important with Online Network Marketers is YOUR LIST. I’ve said it before, we are NOT re-inventing the wheel here, but we build our list DIFFERENTLY.

You have to start thinking about HOW TO build your LIST using the internet. One important concept is a SQUEEZE PAGE, they have been around for many years and is one of the proven method to build your list. Basically, they consist of having a webpage with the sole purpose of getting the visitor curious and excited about a certain topics so that you can capture they’re contact info by a “call to action” with a simple online form.

Don’t under estimate the power of the last item I’ve talked about, this is normally one of the first step of creating a solid system online which will then be automated for the rest of time, bringing people inside your own personal LIST.

By reading more and more about how to become successful in life, I started to separate myself from the “Opportunity Seeker” mindset and it became clear to me that I am an Entrepreneur.

Let me explain myself, there is a big difference in my mind about those two MINDSETS. The Opportunity Seeker is someone that is looking for something that he can simply “jump in” and HOPE that it will work. He thinks that by making the first move, everything will then come to him just like magic. They blindly EXPECT things to happen to them because they’ve made a few productive moves and then think that the ball will continue to roll on its own ….

Well, sorry to burst any bubbles if you are currently thinking like that, but you need to change if the results are not there. I was once thinking like that, so I can clearly relate to what I am saying here and I know it is possible to change the way you are (change your filters) and grow within yourself to being able to think more like an Entrepreneur. You have to acknowledge it first though, it’s probably the first step towards change.

So lets talk about the mindset of a REAL Entrepreneur! The real Entrepreneur does not HOPE things will work out, he MAKES things work out. He is not under the influence of others but rather capable of influencing others. He does not WAIT to see what will happen, but instead takes ACTION and makes things happen. You see the big difference? Everything pretty much comes down to taking consistent actions on a daily basis.

An Opportunity Seeker is more on the passive side, he makes a move and then WAIT. The Entrepreneur makes the exact same move, but instead of waiting he’s ANALYZING every aspect of his moves so that he learns from the experience and know how to make things better, hence, work out in the end.

I am not saying that it is easy to be an Entrepreneur, it is actually much easier to be an Opportunity Seeker than to be a true Entrepreneur. Life is hard, don’t get me wrong about that, but at least its hard for EVERYONE equally!

Be SMART, start to think about where you are and where you want to go. Take ACTIONS and make them CONSISTENT without waiting for immediate results. Everything else will follow in perfect order.

When it comes to success or anything that you truly want in life, it all comes down to YOU. You are the creator of your own destiny. It just makes since that whatever you actually do on a day to day basis will be the long term results of those actions. But a lot of people don’t seem to believe in this “crap” I’m talking about here and all those “spiritual” things that we don’t understand 100%.

Simply ask yourself a question about your current situation! AM I EXACTLY WHERE I WANT TO BE TODAY WITH MY LIFE? If the answer is YES, than you are already on the right path, you have found what it is that makes you happy. But if the answer is NO, there is NO OTHER WAY than to CHANGE. You have to make drastic change to your life RIGHT NOW. Life goes by too quick to spend it dreaming and wondering what it could have been, or wish I had this and that. If no action is taken to modify your current situation, how do you expect to have different results?

The power resides in YOU, you have the ability to change your life by taking small action right NOW that will affect greatly your future. You can’t expect anyone to jump in your life and make all the necessary changes for you. So take a good look at yourself and what is the current situation you are in. No matter what it is, only you have the power to make it better.

Let’s try to understand why some people have tremendous success while others complains every single day about life, family, money and everything in between … We are all humans, so what could possibly the difference?

One concept about trying to understand this in a better way is that we all possess FILTERS in front of us. What I mean by that is that we all have different experiences and gone through different events to be where we are today and ALL those events or experiences have affected us at a conscious level. Every single experiences as change how we perceive the world in front of us, every NEW events that is coming into your life will now be influence by these past experiences. These are the FILTERS, all those experiences or events have changed your own beliefs, thus making you see the world differently every time. So exactly NO ONE can have the same set of FILTERS in front of them … not any two single person can possibly have gone through the same experiences throughout their separate lives.

By acknowledging this only concept, you can see quickly that even everything that I am writing right now will NOT be understood by ALL of you, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE. Some will have started to read and simply click back to go to something else, some will read through all of it but not learn a single thing, some will read this and everything will be clear, while some will read this and be almost bored because they heard that a million times. Well that is all the FILTERS in front of us that is blocking or letting the information reach our deepest level of consciousness without even realizing it.

So when I say that “change” need to come from deep within yourself, I mean it and you probably can understand a little better now! When I say that you have to make the necessary “changes” to your life RIGHT NOW if you don’t like where you currently are in your life, I mean it too!

Finally, when I say that it’s ALL ABOUT YOU, I hope that this information is not being blocked by your personal filters and that you will have a better idea on how to actually change yourself from the inside so that the outside world will be a much better place to live in.

This well known statistic in Network Marketing almost got me to quit everything and forget about this business model. But instead of quitting I started to learn about why, if in fact it was true, that actually 97% of Network Marketers will fail in their business ventures?

The more I read and thought about the subject, the more I started to see that this particular stats is well known for the industry of Network Marketing but it also applies to human nature and the way WE live our lives. What I am trying to say here is that this stats is actually reflecting not only how people are succeeding in Network Marketing but also the way our society works.

When you compare Network Marketing with a traditional corporation, what do you get in terms of structure? To me, I see the same so-called pyramid in corporation than in MLMs. You have the CEO / President at the top level and COO / CFO / Vice-President on the second level, all the top managers managing all the other level of managers and than you get to the bottom level were most of basic employees are (I would guess close to that 97% right here, alright maybe a bit less but you get the similarity). You could argue that at least those 97% employees have not failed because they have a secure job and getting a predictable paycheck week after week, but this is a relative opinion on what is success. Some people will be happy as the bottom level employees for the rest of their lives while others will want to climb on the higher levels and some will even get fired from that particular pyramid.

So can we actually blame this 97% failure in Network Marketing solely on the industry and its pyramid structure? If this was the case, no one could succeed after a certain level, but history shows that certain individual have been able to create bigger empire than most of their upper levels. Like some employees will rise to the top of the corporation quicker than individual who have been in the company many years prior. This shows that this pyramid structure is never perfectly distributed which there is always room for the entrepreneur who is motivated and energetic to build a successful business his own way and on ANY level he wants.

Then it all comes down to what? Well, it’s all about YOU…

I’m sure you all heard this before and just said “yeah yeah” and try to still blame it on everything else but yourself but the fact is that there is no other answer that better describe the behavior and the pattern we see in the Network Marketing industry about that 97% failure statistic. Another fact is that people are blindly getting involved with an MLM company thinking it’s a “money making machine” and they won’t need to work at all to make tons of cash right away, well if this would be true, 97% would be successful and 3% failures.

In conclusion, Network Marketing is a well established business model and NOT a “Get Rich Quick” like many seems to think and consequently contributing to this 97% stats of failures. People need to realize that failure is ONLY due to lack of hard work and self motivation. No industry, no company and no individual are responsible for your success (or failure). IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU !

All MLM (Multi Level Marketing) companies are scams right? Well NO, certainly there is and there always will be scam artist out there, but you simply need to do your homework BEFORE joining a Network Marketing company. So be smart and learn everything you can about the company you want to do business with. Because if you are serious, you will be in business with that company for a long time – hopefully.

When searching online for information about your future business partner, you’ll probably find a lot of information on both sides of the fence because some comments will be from people who are representatives of that particular company and don’t have anything bad to say while others will want to criticize everything in order to make themselves feel good due to a previous failure or simply an unsuccessful attempt at Network Marketing.

What to look for?
1.) One of the first thing would be to check the company’s track record. How long have they been in business for? It doesn’t mean that a new business venture is automatically a scam, it just proves that a company with a long tracking history is doing something good to sustain many factors that keeps a business on its feet.

2.) The products & services. Some people don’t see a difference here, but personally I see a BIG difference. A product is something physical that you can buy and enjoy right away while a service, you still pay for, but it provides a more continuous form of enjoyment. For example, you buy a TV (product) and get yourself the local cable (service) that you pay every month for your entertainment. Or buy a computer once (product) and get the internet (service) every month. Do you see the big difference, I am personally involved in a “Service” Network Marketing business, which I won’t promote on my personal blog, but those who are interested can contact me directly using my contact page.

3.) There are also some associations that you can check if the company you are researching is part of. One of the most recognized in the industry is the Direct Selling Association (www.dsa.org) which you can search from the directory list for a particular company and also learn about the “code of ethics” those members are following.

4.) Leadership. Who is governing this company? Do they also have a track record and success building companies? Their vision and mission statement should be clear and for the long run.

By learning more about a future business partner just makes since. You will be in a long term relationship with that business if you decide to join them so might as well be one that you know about and try to understand where they want to bring their own business.

So as a quick resume, the more you learn, the less you’ll find unfortunate surprises.

Are those Network Marketing (MLM) techniques always going to stay the same? Build a list, call your list, get referrals, invite people, do a presentation, sort them out and repeat. This business model has been around for decades and people have been using pretty much the same techniques for that same time, why you ask, because it works. But what about NEW techniques? What about technology? What about using technology to your advantage.

Don’t get me wrong, those old techniques have been there for many years because they work, so if you are currently using those techniques in your business and it works for you, then you are ahead of those who are frustrated and not getting the results they are currently seeking by using these same techniques. But even if you are succeeding with those old school techniques to a certain level, it wouldn’t hurt to learn new techniques if you want to have even more growth and more prospects on a continuous basis.

The fact is that most people who succeed with traditional Network Marketing techniques all have certain qualities that makes them attractive and possess tremendous people skills, which not everyone is born with. Anyone can develop those skills with some training and I would highly recommend developing them no matter what if you want to grow your business with partnerships and develop long term relationships, but  the beauty of the NEW techniques is that ANYONE currently involved or planning to get involved in Network Marketing can truly benefit from technology.

Yes, anyone that wants it big can have it big, because you are using the INTERNET as your market, so your list starts to become a bit larger when you add to your warm market all the people just like you who are looking for an opportunity just like you on a daily basis. It’s a numbers game and where can you find the biggest number of motivated and ambitious people in one single place?

This 2nd generation concept inherit all those traditional concepts (because we don’t want to re-invent the wheel right?), but you substitute all those old concepts with new technologies that are now available through the internet. For example, your list is still very important, but you change the way you build your list using the internet (instead of names and phone numbers you have names and email addresses). Instead of renting a room in a hotel and doing presentations, you record quality videos from the comfort of your home and promote them on the internet. Instead of contacting everyone and forget to follow up on certain people, you use auto-responders. You are not re-inventing the wheel, simply making another model.

Does it make since to you? Because it’s hard to show my excitement with only letters, but I am really excited about these online techniques and the way that old traditional concepts still exists as the root of it all, but they are being leveraged by softwares and online tools that simply did not exist not too long ago.

Since you are reading this blog and are obviously able to work with a computer and get on the internet so you NEED to get involve and start learning those new techniques if you want your organization to benefit from them as soon as possible.

Is Network Marketing (MLM) a good business model or not? I often get quite different opinion concerning this subject. But why this complete opinion dispersion, some people like it so much while others can’t even stand the idea of it?

I personally think that a lot of it comes from the fact that there is a lack of proper education about the subject. There is a lot of excitement from those who succeed and try to fill everyones head that it’s simple and easy to do instead of telling the TRUTH that it actually takes time and effort to build any type of business and that you have to work hard to reach your goals in life.

On the other side, there are those frustrated people, either they’ve got mislead by a scheme or didn’t succeed only due to their own lack of work, that give a bad reputation for those who actually work hard and get results. Those people probably didn’t know what they were getting into and didn’t do diligence investigation before starting their Network Marketing business. Proper education is key to knowing what your are getting yourself into and how to maximize your chance of success.

Network Marketing is not a “Get Rich Quick” business model like many thinks and consequently won’t put the time and effort that needs to be put in, in order to succeed. I’ve seen so many people get influence by others and not keeping a clear view of their own goals and afterwards blaming everything but themselves for the lack of success. For being successful, one needs to put hard work and proper education, this is not negotiable. It is YOUR business so treat it like YOU deserve to be treated.

If you are thinking of being a Network Marketer, here’s a few quick tips that you need to consider before even considering an opportunity of any kind:

• Do you have the self motivation to work HARD and being CONSISTENT
• You have to get proper EDUCATION on Network Marketing before anything
• Success is truly the results of your own ACTIONS
• Being able to SET GOALS and doing whatever it takes to reach them

It all comes down to YOU! Network Marketing is not about the company you join or the product you sell, it’s all about YOU.
